Travel Advice: Things To Do in Paris, France

Apart from being the home of the biggest fashion names, Paris has a lot of history, art, and architecture that can be enjoyed as much as the shopping and eating in gourmet restaurants.

Tip: The hop in/hop off sightseeing red bus, Les Rouges Car, that stops in the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame, Opera, and many more.  Get the ticket for an unlimited 2 day use.
Les Cars Rouges
 1- Musee de Louvre
One of the largest museum in the world, is in my opinion the number one place to visit.  The world's most important painting, the Mona Lisa, is there, and I advice you to rush to the painting as soon as youn enter the museum, as it is the most crowded place and you might not have a good view of it.  I also advice you to be at the ticket counter at 9 am, that's when the museum open, so you can have enough time to check all of their sections. You may need a minimum of 3 hours and up to 5 hours to enjoy the whole museum. It is closed on tuesdays. The Car Rouges stops here. Nearby is the beautiful Tuleries Gardens, created in the 16th century.  A good time to visit is early morning where you can enjoy walking or jogging.

2- Versailles Palace
This is accessed by car or through a group tour.  I had the group tour which stays one whole day inside the Versailles Palace area.  Why? Because I wanted to see not only the palace, but the gardens and summer homes including Napoleon Bonaparte's place.

3- Eiffel Tower
What would a visit to Paris be without visiting its most famous monument.  The que line is too long, so I advice you get your ticket beforehand.  There are different types of tickets, each takes you to a different floor of the tower.  I went to the first floor, where the view is also facinating, and there's a cafe, restaurant, mini history of tower museum, and souvenier shops. The Car Rouges stops here.

4- Notre-Dame
The famous gothic cathedral, and yes its the same one featured in the Hunchback of Notre Dame.  Entry is free and people still worship there.  The Car Rouges stops here.
 5- Sacre-Coer
The Byzantine looking church on top of a hill, very much contrasting with most of Paris's monuments.

6- Champs-Elysees & The Arc de Triumph
After walking the famous streets of Champs-Elysees, you will find the famous arc that was ordered to be built by Napoleon Bonaparte at the end of the street.

7- Moulin Rouge
The number one show in Paris.
official website

8- Seine River Cruise

9- Orsay Museum
Said to be one of the most beautiful museums in Europe.  Its most famous work is Vincent Van Gogh's The Church of Auvers.

10- Opera

11- Mont Saint Michel Whole Day Trip
If you've had enough of the city, why not take a full-day tour to one of the most popular attractions in France, the fairytale island of Mont Saint Michel off the coast of Normandy.  Its listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Mont Saint Michel was said to have inspired Walt Disney's trademark castle.

12- Shopping
Rue du Faubourg Saint-HonorĂ©: Paris's Sloane Street and Bond Street. I advice you to choose a hotel located on or near this street  like the new Mandarin Oriental Paris or The Westin Paris-Vendome rather than by the Champs-Elysees.
Le Bon Marche
There are ofcourse more streets and department stores, these are just my personal favorites.

Mobrad Nail Spa

Thankfully, I have never had any problems with any nail salon in Kuwait.  I like them all.  But lately, I've been avoiding criwded nail salons, I prefer quieter ones to relax.  Places I still go to are Nails Bar Boutique in Al-Awadhi Complex and Nailtini in Surra.  I also like Nail Polish in Jabriya but its always fully booked.  So recently, I've been wanting to try Mobrad Nail Spa, but everytime I call I found that they were fully booked, so you can't imagine how happy I was when I finally found an opening.  I'm not saying this because its the newest place, but because they did an excellent job on my manicure/pedicure and the service was the best, everyone was super sweet, that I didn't want to leave.  Best of all the TV was on E!.  Other than doing your nails, they've got hair treatments, hair removals, and a head massage.

Travel Advice: One & Only The Palm - Dubai, UAE

One & Only is one of my sought after hotel brands. The one in Maldives is magnificent and the Jumeirah beach branch is one I have stayed in 5 times now.  Visiting this newly established branch located in Palm Dubai, the 5star luxury One & Only The Palm, was a beautiful experience by itself.  The hotel is in a secluded part of the island very near to Jumeirah Zabeel Saray.  To those used to staying at hotels very close to some of the big malls there, this hotel is a 20-25 min drive from The Dubai Mall, but closer to the Mall of Emirates. It is a very luxurious and quiet for you people who want to relax and enjoy the beauty of their surroundings, whether its the hotel design, the view of the ocean, or The Palm itself.  You have to check out the breakfast in Zest, even if you're not staying at the hotel, it's really good and very unlike most hotel breakfast buffets we've ever experienced. Sadly most of my pictures again have been lost.

Pick Yo

Had the chance to visit the cute little frozen yogurt place, Pick Yo, located in AlKaifan Mall.  The weather was so hot outside making me crave something cool and fruity, so I went for both the fro-yo and the smoothie.  Got myself the billberry fro-yo and a mango smoothie. One word, YUMMY!

Travel Advice: Zaroob - Dubai, UAE

Zaroob has been the "it" place to casually grab a bite in for a few months now. The place's decor is so interesting you find yourself falling in love with the traditional Middle Eastern theme from our childhood. The food is mostly mezzas, mana2eesh, fatayir, and wraps. You choose by checking on a notepad like menu.  They are well know for their chai karak as I've been told by some of the locals, and when I did try it I thought it was the best karak I've ever had.

Located in Shaikh Zayed Road near Emirate Towers.

Travel Advice: The Address Dubai Mall - Dubai, UAE

The Address Dubai Mall was another hotel I didn't choose and was the choice of the majority.  This contemporary small hotel was surprisingly quiter and less crowded than any mall hotel I've seen or stayed in, like Kempinski of Mall of Emirates. On the other hand, the rooms wer nicely designed.

Chatuchak Weekend Market - Bangkok, Thailand

Chatuchak Market is a place every visitor to Bangkok has to go to.  The city train takes you to Chatuchak, it will be the last station stop and the distance is probably around 15min, more by taxi. You will be staying for a minimum of 4- hours and still might need another day because its the hugest market you will ever see.  You will get lost, because there's so many alleyways and sections that might look similar, so you have to check the market map.  The market has everything! Clothes, house appliances, beauty products, souveniers, food, cafes, restaurants, pets, electronics, home decor, leather goods, etc. Some of the shops will have several branches in the market.  Most of it isn't open air so you will be hot and sweaty, wear comfy clothes, and the rest between sections is open air.
Lemon juice punch style is so refreshingly good
Gelatine rice candy (forgot the flavor) We love it!

Travel Advice: My Stay at Intercontinental Hotel Bangkok, Thailand

The Intercontinental Hotel is not a hotel I have wanted to stay in, but one that has been chosen by my family. It wasn't as I expected it. Nice spacious lobby area.  Great location near the best shopping malls.  Nice spacious contemporary rooms, excellent hotel services and room service. I hated the fact that it was a very crowded hotel with lots of kids running around.

Other hotels I have visited in Bangkok:

New Hotel: Hotel Muse Bangkok Langsuan - Thailand

Opened last month, September 2011.

Hotel Muse Bangkok Langsuan, a chic boutique hotel,  in set in one of Bangkok’s most highly sought after residential areas and is located in a business district.  Just a 5 minutes walk away from BTS Skytrain.  The design is a clash between the classic European and the Asian with a twist.
